In 2016, Nino developed an internship program for the secondary school youth of Georgia in four different remote regions. The project entitled #StartToday gave youth hands-on experience shadowing a working professional in a chosen field for 5 weeks. In 2017, Nino received a second Greenheart Service Grant for a project entitled, “Accessibility to Education in Georgia.” She partnered with a second Greenheart Global Leaders Conference participant, Nato Kabulashvili, to build a two-day training program followed by a simulation exercise on education which aimed to reach out to youth living in remote areas in Georgia, specifically Armenians ages 16 to 18. A series of workshops focused on the impact of civil activism and volunteering.

Currently, she is employed by Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture (CNFA) Georgia. Through her work, she is able to forge local and global relationships that help meet the world’s demand for food.

Q. How were you inspired by the GGLC?

A. The GGLC gave me an opportunity to meet like-minded people who are change makers in their own communities. It also allowed me to learn about the challenges that different countries, youth, children and women face. It made me realize that it is possible to tackle larger social, political and economic challenges by taking small steps, which ultimately have a bigger impact. GGLC encouraged me to serve the vulnerable segment of Georgian society and helped me meet people with whom I would love to initiate and implement joint ventures with in the future.

Q. What is your favorite GGLC memory?

A. I think GGLC was the best memory of my summer. In a million years, I would not have expected to meet with representatives from the U.S. Department of State. The GGLC was a rewarding experience that will stay with me forever.

Q. How has Greenheart impacted you?

A. I believe Greenheart is made up of amazing and supportive staff members. It is a wonderful resource that allows me to make more of an impact on my Georgian society. Greenheart as an organization is a platform that helps me utilize my talent, organize events, meet new people and involve rural youth.
