Greenheart Week of Service: Breaking a RECORD number of hours!

Congratulations to our Greenheart community for making this year’s Week of Service our most successful one yet! Exchange participants and alumni volunteered and logged nearly 600 hours in the Greenheart Club last week. Look at how some of your fellow Greenheart’s spent their time serving their communities:

Women’s Empowerment & Education

High School Programs and FLEX participant, Ema from Moldova, participated in Days for Girls by creating menstrual care kits for girls in countries around the world who would not otherwise have easy access to these products.

“Volunteering is about showing yourself and boosting your personality. I advocate towards equal rights and opportunities for everybody, that’s why I decided to be a volunteer for Days for Girls,” says Ema. “This organization makes me closer with the girls around the world who need our help and makes me aware of the major problems and how we can be the change.”

High School Programs alumna, Yana, from Kazakhstan also helped lead a workshop on leadership for women learning about project management and gender equality.

Spooky Service

High School Programs participant, Vladislav from Estonia, joined a fellow exchange student and host mom to pass out candy and pens to kids who were trick or treating at a local zoo. Another fellow High School Programs community member, Ozgur from Turkey, volunteered his time at a craft fair helping local artisans sell their beautiful creations!

Greenheart staff take on the Week of Service Challenge

Greenheart staff have no problem walking the walk and talking the talk! Staff members volunteered a collective 140 hours during Week of Service.

Our Impact

We created 37 cat nip toys, 24 dog toys, 75 dog treats, and 36 cat feather toys for our animal friends at the Anti-Cruelty Society.

We prepared hundreds of candles for shipment at an organization that lights the way for young moms and their kids, Bright Endeavors. We also donated 37 canned food items to the New Moms food pantry.

We played Bingo with 9 new senior friends at St. Paul’s House during the camp reunion.

Thank you so much for joining us for this year’s Week of Service! We hope this spirit of volunteerism will continue to carry you throughout the rest of the year! “No one can do everything, but everyone can do something, and together we can change the world.” Take a look at some more photos from our week on Facebook.
