Eskwela sa Kalsada (Street Learning Center)

Eskwela sa Kalsada (Project Street Learning Center) was a meaningful and impactful initiative that brought education directly to the street children of Bacolod City. Through this project, the children were given access to structured learning experiences in reading, writing, mathematics, and science subjects that build foundational knowledge and open doors to greater opportunities.

Beyond basic academics, the children were given the chance to investigate, explore, and discover through hands-on activities that are often only accessible inside formal classrooms. They engaged in interactive lessons, asked questions, experimented, and experienced the joy of learning in a safe and supportive environment. For many of them, this was their first opportunity to actively participate in guided academic exploration.

The project also emphasized physical well-being and self-care. The children learned the importance of proper sanitation, hygiene practices, and taking care of their bodies. They were introduced to self-care habits and healthy routines that support not only their physical health but also their confidence and sense of self-worth.

In addition, they developed valuable life skills through creative workshops. They learned how to make bracelets and design mugs, crafts that allowed them to express themselves while also building skills that can become income-generating opportunities in the future. These activities nurtured creativity, patience, and pride in their own work. Overall, Eskwela sa Kalsada was more than just a learning program, it was a safe space for growth, discovery, empowerment, and hope. It opened opportunities for children to see beyond their current circumstances and begin imagining brighter, healthier, and more stable futures for themselves and their families.
