“A day I will never forget”: The Greenheart Travel and XploreAsia teams spent last Sunday visiting orphans from the Karen tribe, at their home about 2 hours West of Hua Hin. These Burmese orphans lost their parents and fled their birth homes due to the political unrest and conflict in Myanmar. They have no valid identification while living here in Thailand, so there is little hope of returning home to Myanmar. I had never been to an orphanage before this day. We bought supplies before driving to the mountains, brought lunch, played games and did Christmas activities with the children and they even sang English Christmas songs for us. They were so engaged and excited to spend time with us. It was one of the most moving heart-warming experiences I’ve had while being here in Thailand for about a month now (and there have been so many unforgettable moments). The smiles (and tears) on the children’s faces made it so difficult for us to leave to go back into town. 💖I am so grateful for being able to show these precious kids and few young adult orphans, and their caregiver Samsun, the true meaning of life- that is to live, laugh and love each other, and remind them that others (even strangers) do truly care and want to help. Thank you #greenhearttravel and #xploreasia for giving me the opportunity to be apart of this.
