Exploring Teacher Placement Cities: Tak, Thailand

In this blog series, we want to show off some of the cool cities our Greenheart Travelers live in throughout Thailand. Many teachers on this program want to be placed in cities they have heard of in touristy magazines, on Instagram, etc. like Chiang Mai or Phuket, but many of our teachers live in places you’ve likely never heard of before. That’s not to say they aren’t awesome placements – which is why we made this blog series! Cities like Tak allow you to get to know real Thailand, all while living somewhere just as beautiful as the touristy spots.

Today’s blog features Tak. Here are some fun facts about Tak, followed by photos from Greenheart Travelers placed and living in there!

Tak Facts

  • Tak City Population: 20,290
  • Province: Tak Province
  • Region: Western part of Thailand, bordering Myanmar.

~cue long, emotional caption~ Had one of the most magical days! Today was “Teacher’s Day” where all of the students in the school honor and give thanks to their teachers. They spend so much time making these ornate flower arrangements with their parents/families and every flower in every arrangement has a specific meaning. They give these arrangements to the teachers to ask for a blessing for their futures. Some flowers mean intelligence…some patience…resilience…etc. It was such a beautiful ceremony and the children in this country really do show so much respect and love for their teachers. Other countries …cough cough America cough cough…. should follow Thailand’s lead when it comes to things like this. I have the best, most supportive co-teachers (especially my Tak Girls, Alex & Jess) I’m so grateful to be here…living in this country…teaching these amazing children. My heart is so very full ❤🇹🇭 👩🏼‍🏫
