Exploring Teacher Placement Cities: Songklah, Thailand

In this blog series, we want to show off some of the cool cities our Greenheart Travelers live in throughout Thailand. Many teachers on this program want to be placed in cities they have heard of in touristy magazines, on Instagram, etc. like Chiang Mai or Phuket, but many of our teachers live in places you’ve likely never heard of before. That’s not to say they aren’t awesome placements – which is why we made this blog series! Cities like Songklah allow you to get to know real Thailand, all while living somewhere just as beautiful as the touristy spots.

Today’s blog features Songklah. Here are some fun facts about Songklah, followed by photos from Greenheart Travelers placed and living in there!

Songklah Facts

  • Songklah City Population: 75,048
  • Province: Songklah Province
  • Region: Southern Thailand on the Gulf of Thailand

“If I’m an advocate for anything, it’s to move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. The extent to which you can walk in someone else’s shoes or at least eat their food, it’s a plus for everybody. Open your mind, get up off the couch. Move.” -Anthony Bourdain . . Move. Travel. Trying to explain the concept of Thanksgiving to my kiddos was interesting 😂 I could go on and on about all I’m thankful for this year: my incredible family sending their love from half way around the world, the sweet kids I teach, this country I’ve made my home, new friends here I can share a make-shift Thanksgiving meal with, and the gift of a healthy mind and body that allows me to make the most of each day. Be thankful for each breath you’re gifted with, savor every meal you’re fortunate enough to eat and smile, laugh, and dance often… because you CAN. Give your family and friends a special hug, remind yourself what’s ACTUALLY important at the end of the day, and always ALWAYS look on the bright side; there’s always something to be grateful for. ❤ #begrateful #love #thankful #teacherlife #thanksgiving #thailand
