A Global Perspective On Global Leadership: Work & Travel

The 4th annual Greenheart Global Leaders Conference kicks off this Sunday! Thirty-eight participants from 21 countries are packing their bags and gearing up to embark on a week of leadership development in Washington, D.C. This true cross-cultural experience brings together participants across all of our Greenheart branches. Their week is spent increasing their understanding of American culture, volunteering, and creating action plans for global leadership. Our initiatives encourage participants to turn their international experience into a mission-driven life and career. Want to know what it looks like to lead with purpose? Keep an eye on our blog and share in the thoughts of a few of our selected leaders!

“A global leader is a person who is alert and ready to serve. He or she is a citizen of the global community that sees the need to preserve and promote civic rights, environmental awareness and as the title suggests, to lead by example. A global leader understands that their being here on the earth is more than just living for themselves but living with the mindset of uplifting and strengthening the pillars/values by which we occupy this space, and by extension, its people.

Last summer, I was granted the opportunity to attend the Greenheart Global Leaders Conference. I had the opportunity to meet and greet with other ambassadors, tour Washington, and browse different solutions to varying issues people face worldwide. I’d like to attend once more this year for one specific reason. The resources that were afforded me previously have opened me up to think broader on how I would like to help my community and to undertake other projects. And resources for me include the people, ideas, funds, etc. I believe that this year is going to be different and more fruitful and I will have the opportunity to grow more and offer my help and support to other ambassadors.”

“A global leader is a person with rare attributes like a determined mind, exceptional understanding and logical thinking. Different opinions tend to occur in a team, thus a leader who can unify the team and satisfy the team members is in demand. It is a prerequisite that a leader knows how to communicate with team members while not being contemptuous or offensive. Communication skills are necessary in case misunderstandings become the obstacle of the organization. Finally, the executive ability should not be ignored. Every organization should have a specific aim and the implementation of plans should be performed. I am eager to learn more about the ideas from others all over the world and engage in trans-cultural discussions.”
