By: Orville Tomlinson, Summer Work and Travel Ambassador Scholar
On May 15th, my work contract started at Funtown Splashtown in Saco, Maine. I was very excited to begin work, mainly due to the fact that I am a returning student in a new position (ride operator).
The park is not currently in full operational mode but there is pre-season work for upkeep and beautification going on during the week (park open during weekends) until June.
Here is my Day in the Work Life on May 21st!

It was a beautiful overcast morning as we headed to work for beautification work (planting flowers). We were divided into small teams and given different assignments at

different locations by our supervisor. My group involved other Work & Travel participants: Shanille and Jesse.
This is the time of the year (early summer) when, we as international students get to know each other, interact, share a few jokes, and exchange a few things about our different cultures.
Team Work: Working as a team is very important if one wants to be productive, effective and efficient in getting a task done. This includes being able to work consistently and being able to tolerate other co- workers. My hope as an Ambassador Scholar is that I have done this.
At the end of a successful day of work, even though it rained, we were able to get our task done efficiently and effectively.

Every day it resonates that I am here on a mission to do better for the world, whether I am doing volunteerism or working. Being a Cultural Ambassador for CCI Greenheart is helping me to highlight more interesting facts about my country while I am also learning about some interesting facts about other countries and their culture!
