Greenheart Global Leaders Conference 2015 Review
At the beginning of August 2015, Work & Travel participants gathered in Washington D.C. for a week-long Global Leadership Conference. Fully funded by our generous supporter base, 23 merit-based participants were able to join and grow in their understanding of what it means to be a leader in their community.
“My goal was to understand more about different cultures and to broaden my understanding about leadership and I think we accomplished it together,” one participant said.
In between a panel on careers in global leadership, volunteering at the Capital Area Food Bank and a presentation to the U.S. Department of State, we cultivated a global community for change.
Another participant added: “meeting so many nice friends and knowing what other people are doing to make the society and the world better was the most memorable and personally rewarding experience.”
At the end of the week, participants had learned important skills for teamwork and global collaboration. Many left inspired to bring this new knowledge back to their home countries and communities, and to better the place where they live.
In the words of a participant: “There is no doubt that it’s my best week this summer!”
We couldn’t agree more!
